Karaport Advertising Policies
I. General
A. Our Advertising Policies consist of advertising content criteria and other related terms and conditions.
B. These Advertising Policies apply to all advertisements and commercial content ("Ads") provided by Karaport or displayed on Karaport, including advertisements purchased under AAAA/IAB Standard Terms and Conditions.
C. Advertisements must not contain false, misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive claims or content.
II. Data and Privacy
A. No data collected, derived, or obtained from a Karaport advertisement or in connection with a Karaport advertisement (including information derived from targeting criteria), including the publication of a Karaport advertisement and Karaport users’ interaction with an advertisement provided by Karaport, may be received or used by any entity that is not acting on behalf of the Karaport advertiser.
B. Karaport advertising data may not be used for any purpose other than evaluating the performance and effectiveness of your Karaport advertising campaigns in an aggregated or anonymized manner. This includes, but is not limited to, retargeting, combining data between campaigns belonging to multiple advertisers, allowing data to be embedded into hidden metadata, or redirecting users through tags.
C. You may use information that users provide directly to you, provided that you clearly inform users about how their information will be used, obtain their consent, and comply with all applicable laws and industry standards.
D. You may not transfer or sell any data, directly or indirectly, to any advertising network, advertising platform, data broker, or any other third party that is not acting on behalf of the advertiser. Indirect transfer includes, for example, providing data to third parties that will transfer such data to an advertising network.
III. Ad Creative and Placement
All elements of an advertisement, including advertising text, images, and other media, must be relevant and appropriate for the promoted product or service and the target audience where the advertisement is displayed.
Advertisements must not contain audio or flash animations that automatically start playing without user interaction.
Advertisements must not position products or services in a sexually suggestive manner.
Advertisements must not exploit political issues or controversial topics for commercial purposes.
Additionally, advertisement text must comply with grammar rules, and all symbols, numbers, and letters must be used in a way that accurately reflects their actual meaning.
A. Accurate Information
Advertisements must clearly represent the advertised company, product, service, or brand.
Products and services promoted in advertisement texts must be clearly represented on the landing page, and the landing page must not offer or link to prohibited products or services.
Advertisements must not make false claims regarding general offers.
B. Personal Attributes
Advertisement content or targeting must not directly or indirectly reveal or imply a user's personal characteristics, including the following categories:
i. Race or ethnic origin;
ii. Religious or philosophical beliefs;
iii. Age;
iv. Sexual orientation or sexual life;
v. Gender identity;
vi. Disability or health condition (physical or mental health);
vii. Financial status or financial information;
viii. Trade union membership; and
ix. Criminal record.
C. Landing Pages
Advertisements must direct users to a properly functioning landing page that does not prevent users from leaving the page.
D. Targeting
Advertisements must always use appropriate targeting methods and must never use targeting criteria designed to provoke or negatively influence users.
Products and services subject to specific regulations (for example, alcohol and gambling) must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, legislation, and industry standards.
IV. Advertising Content
Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that their advertisements comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules.
All claims made in advertisements must be adequately supported and verified.
Advertisements must not offend users.
Advertisements and the offers promoted in advertisements must not contain false, deceptive, misleading, or spam content.
Advertisements must not include or promote illegal products or services.
Advertisements must not violate the rights of any third party.
The following specific content categories are subject to additional rules:
A. Adult Products
Advertisements may not promote the sale or use of adult products or services, including but not limited to adult toys, videos, publications, live shows, and sexual enhancement products.
Advertisements related to family planning and contraception methods may be permitted provided that appropriate targeting requirements are met.
B. Alcohol
i. Advertisements promoting alcohol or referring to alcohol are prohibited in the following countries:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Brunei, Gambia, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, Norway, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and all other jurisdictions where such advertisements are legally prohibited.
ii. Where permitted, advertisements promoting alcohol or referring to alcohol must:
(i) comply with all applicable laws, mandatory or recommended industry standards, licenses, and approvals;
(ii) comply with Karaport targeting policies and applicable local laws regarding age and country targeting criteria.
If the user's age or country cannot be determined, the advertisement must not be displayed to that user.
C. Dating
Advertisements for adult dating services or dating websites with sexual content are not permitted.
Advertisements for other online dating services must comply with Karaport’s dating targeting requirements and must include the name of the product or service in the advertisement text or visual content.
D. Drugs and Tobacco
Advertisements must not promote, enable, or facilitate the sale, consumption, or use of illegal drugs, recreational drugs, tobacco products, or equipment related to drug or tobacco use.
E. Gambling and Lotteries
i. Advertisements that promote or enable online gambling activities, including online casinos, sports betting, lotteries, poker, games of skill, or similar gambling services, are only permitted in certain countries with prior approval from Karaport.
ii. Government-operated lotteries may advertise on Karaport, provided that they target users in accordance with applicable laws in the relevant jurisdiction and only target users located in jurisdictions where the lottery is legally available.
iii. Advertisements promoting offline gambling establishments, such as physical casinos and other non-online games of chance, are generally permitted provided that the advertisements comply with applicable laws and regulations and use appropriate targeting.
F. Medicines and Herbal Supplement Products
i. Advertisements may not promote the sale of prescription medicines.
Online pharmacy advertisements are generally prohibited on Karaport; however, advertisements from certified pharmacies may be permitted with prior approval from Karaport.
ii. Advertisements for dietary supplements and herbal products are generally permitted, provided that they do not contain anabolic steroids, chitosan, comfrey, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), ephedra, growth hormone, melatonin, or other supplements considered unsafe or unreliable at Karaport’s sole discretion.
G. Software
Advertisements must not contain spyware, malicious software downloads, or any software that creates unexpected, deceptive, or unfair user experiences.
Advertisements must not directly or indirectly link to websites containing such software.
Such software includes, but is not limited to:
i. Software that secretly installs itself on a user’s or member’s system;
ii. Software that performs actions without the user's or member's knowledge;
iii. Software that modifies, damages, disables, or replaces hardware or installed software on a user's computer without the user's explicit permission;
iv. Software that is hidden as a component of another software product, whether free or requiring additional payment;
v. Software that automatically downloads files without Karaport’s prior explicit permission;
vi. Software that displays download dialogs without the user or member taking an action; or
vii. Software that infringes or violates the intellectual property rights of any third party, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, or other proprietary rights.
H. Subscription Services
Advertisements promoting subscription services or products/services that include automatic renewal, free-to-paid transitions, or mobile marketing, unless later cancelled, are subject to the following conditions:
i. Advertisements must clearly and prominently disclose recurring charges (for example: “subscription required”).
ii. The landing page must include:
a. The price and payment frequency where users are requested to enter personal identification information;
b. A confirmation checkbox that is not pre-selected, showing that the user accepts the price and subscription service;
c. Instructions explaining how the subscription or membership can be cancelled.
iii. Each of the above requirements must be clearly visible on the landing page, located in a prominent position determined at Karaport’s sole discretion, and must be easy to find, read, and understand.
I. Unacceptable Business Models
Advertisements may not promote business models or practices that are considered unacceptable by Karaport at its sole discretion or that are contrary to Karaport’s general advertising principles.
This includes, but is not limited to, multi-level marketing schemes, fraudulent activities, or advertisements intended for deceptive purposes.
J. Weapons and Explosives
Advertisements may not promote the sale, purchase, or use of weapons, ammunition, or explosives.
V. Community Standards
Advertisements or advertising categories that receive a significant amount of negative user feedback or are otherwise considered to violate our community standards may be prohibited and removed.
In all cases, Karaport reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether such content violates our community standards.
A. Illegal Activities
Advertisements must not constitute, promote, or facilitate illegal activities.
B. Harassment
Advertisements must not insult, threaten, humiliate, impersonate, attack, or engage in bullying against other individuals or groups.
C. Hate Speech
Advertisements must not contain "hate speech" directed toward an individual or a group based on specific characteristics.
These categories include, but are not limited to:
- Race
- Gender
- Religion or sect
- National origin
- Religious beliefs
- Marital status
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity
Language
D. Minors
Advertisements targeting minors must not promote products or services that are illegal, unsafe, or considered inappropriate for use by minors under the applicable laws of their jurisdiction.
E. Sexual Content / Nudity
Advertisements must not contain adult content, including nudity, depictions of people in explicit or sexually suggestive poses, or excessively sexualized or provocative activities.
F. Shock Value
Advertisements must not contain shocking, sensational, disrespectful, or excessively violent content.
VI. References to Karaport
Advertisements must not imply any type of endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or affiliation with Karaport.
Advertisements that link to Karaport-branded content may make limited references to “Karaport” within the advertisement text solely for the purpose of explaining the destination page of the advertisement.
All other advertisements or landing pages may not use our copyrights, trademarks, or confusingly similar brands without obtaining prior written permission from Karaport.
VII. Rights of Others
Advertisements must not contain content that infringes upon the rights of any third party, including but not limited to:
- Copyrights
- Trademarks
- Privacy rights
- Personality rights
Other personal rights or property rights
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to reject, approve, or remove any advertisement, including advertisements that promote content, services, or activities that negatively affect our relationship with users or conflict with our competitive position, interests, or advertising principles.
