While one of the wheels performs the grinding process, the other advances the workpiece along its own axis. This wheel is called the regulating wheel. A peripheral speed difference occurs between the two working wheels. Grinding rotates the workpiece at a speed close to the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel; help can be received from the regulating wheel. The peripheral speed of the workpiece is also slightly reduced via the regulating wheel. Thus, the removal of chips from the workpiece by the wheel is also ensured.
If we talk about the purpose of the grinding process; if the dimensions of our part are sensitive and we want to get a measurement at exactly the values we want or at values very close to it, one of the methods we will apply is the grinding method. Apart from this, in some hardened materials, if we want to get rid of some of these hardened surfaces, we can again go for the grinding method for this process. If we have a cylindrical part and errors have occurred on the surface of our part due to heat treatment, we can also perform grinding to eliminate this problem.
